Financial and administrative aspects of the support and taxation of solar energy
Jančová, Kateřina ; Boháč, Radim (advisor) ; Kohajda, Michael (referee)
This thesis examines with subsidies and taxes related to renewable energy generation, solar energy generation in particular. I have chosen this topic for its relevance to current situation and ongoing attention it enjoys from the media. The work comprises of five sections. In the first section, I focus on original renewable energy legislation that was in effect till year 2012. Here I discuss both Czech and European legislation with emphasis on the Czech system of subsidies based on the the Act No. 180/2005 Col. In the second part, I deal with solar generation boom during 2009 a 2010. I describe both causes of the solar boom and legislation adopted to lessen its negative effects. Specifically, I discuss the levy on solar generation, which has caused widespread debate and protests from the owners of the solar generation installations. Moreover, I discuss the reversals of the income tax examptions related to renewable electricity generation. The third part deals with finding of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic that reflects constitutional complaint of certain group of senators. This complaint postulated that aforementioned levy and reversal of the income tax exemption are unconstitutional, for they, according to those submitting the complaint, had retroactive effect and thus violated...

The future of conventional energetics in the Transformation to a low carbon EU economy
Szarvasová, Jana ; Vondrušková, Barbora (advisor) ; Machytka, Daniel (referee)
Thesis has the aim to explore by usage of problem of global warming the interaction between two decarbonisation instruments of the European economy. The first instrument is the European emissions trading system, and the second one is a binding target share of renewable energy sources in the final energy consumption by 2020 distributed to national commitments. The thesis is divided into four chapters: the first one describes the issue of global warming, the second one characterizes the EU ETS, and third one shows the implementation of RES and the last chapter explores the interaction of the EU ETS and RES.
The role of renewables in the energy mix Czech Republic
Koukalová, Blanka ; Hladík, Miroslav (advisor) ; Czesaný, Slavoj (referee)
This thesis analyses the energy mix of the Czech Republic with a focus on the use and development options of individual types of renewable energy sources. It also considers economics of renewable energy especially in terms of production cost of electricity and the impact on the prices of electricity. The paper further analyses the current subsidies related of renewable energy sources in the country and forecasts such subsidies to 2030. The topic of the work is very timely as the future direction of the energy sector is the subject of intensive debate and negotiations, both at the level of the EU and the Czech Republic, namely in the State Energy Policy of the Czech Republic. The theoretical part defines the issue of renewable sources of energy and legislation related to the issue. It also deals with assessing the arguments of proponents and opponents of renewable energy sources and theoretical approaches related to renewable energy, specifically environmental and behavioral theories. Behavioral theory has a significant influence on decisions about the future direction of energy. The practical part focuses on the analysis of various types of renewable resources and subsidies related to renewable energy sources in the country. Furthermore we compare the models of energy systems and energy mixes of Czech republic and Germany, from both the current and future perspectives. We also evaluate the relationship of populations of the Czech Republic and Germany to renewable energy, which leads to the hypothesis that the development of renewable energy sources depends to some extent on political ambitions and objectives of the ruling establishment.
